Dan just wants to go home—or at least find a beer and a bed to sleep off his hangover. Instead, he’s trapped in the Backrooms, an endless, shifting dungeon stitched together from derelict carnivals, rotting shopping malls, and other liminal nightmares. Worse, it’s crawling with Dwellers: grotesque creatures that want him dead. To survive, Dan must master the Backrooms’ game-like magic, forging uneasy alliances and scavenging artifacts to build his power. But time is running out. The Flayed Monarch, ruler of the 999th floor, has marked him for slaughter, and the Skinless Court never lets prey escape. Between the loot, the swearing, and a dog made entirely of Crocs with googly eyes, Dan’s only real choices are adapt or die. The real question is whether he can outrun the horrors long enough to find a way out—or if the Backrooms will claim him first.
