In 1889 Paris, a disillusioned hunter stalks gaslit streets to slaughter the predatory beings who feed on humanity—but Death fights back.

Synopsis

In 1889 Paris, the Eiffel Tower rises as a beacon of progress, but beneath the city’s gaslit streets, Laurent Valmore uncovers a darker truth. Death is not an abstract force but a legion of ancient, predatory beings who have fed on humanity since time began. Armed with a dead man’s secrets and a burning resolve, Laurent embarks on his first hunt—a bloody pursuit through cobblestone alleys and opulent salons, where science and the supernatural collide. To free mankind from mortality’s chains, he must slaughter every last Death. But the creatures do not die easily, and Laurent’s war is only beginning.
